Network Multimeter App Reviews

Horrible

Doesnt hardly work. Have to keep shutting down and relaunching to even get a reading. 20 from AP shows little to no signal. Junk. Want my money back

Eh

I cant really tell if its doing what it is supposed to do. Since its merely downloading files to test speed, fluctuations can occur even with a strong signal. Especially since the downloaded files are coming from HTTP sites. It really doesnt indicate the strength of the WiFi signal - Apple wont allow apps to do this as they feel it could be used for nefarious reasons, or some such nonsense. Also, the speed graph is backwards - it runs from left to right instead of right to left!

Good little app

A very helpful app. Works as advertised. I dont understand the negative reviews. Read the description before you buy. The app does not measure signal strength; no app can. The app measures download speed or ping duration. These measurements will fluctuate over time. I find that the download speed together with the amount of fluctuation is a useful indicator of the wifi strength. A useful addition to the app: add some kind of warning when you are in the 0-10Mb/s scale and the speed exceeds 10Mb/s. Or auto-ranging would be nice.

Works great

Works great for finding dead spots in the house.

Great app!

I have three wifi routers in the house and was looking for a way to evaluate wifi signal strength in various places in and around the house. I wanted to optimize wifi router placement to get the best wifi coverage. The Network Multimeter app does the job! I can walk around the house and an analog meter continuously shows the varying wifi network speed (Mbps). As I am new to iTunes and iPad, I had some problems dowloading and installing the app and used iTunes "app support" to e-mail Jackson Software for help. They immediately responded and helped me resolve the problem. Great app and great support!Thank you Jackson Software!

Great app

Great app -well worth the $

Not worth the money

Yes, not worth 99 cents. Just an app that measures download performance to approximate signal strength, which it isnt.

Cool app!

This app is really helpful! I use it a lot!

Worthless

I put this right next to an access point and I still got crappy reading. Fortunately I only wasted $.99

not what i was looking for

not very accurate or useful. the needle bounces from 2mb/s to 8mb/s sitting in one spot. i wanted something to give me info about wifi signal strength so i could position myself closer to access points. this app wasnt useful for that. this is just a speed test. cheers to the developer, its a nice design, but not what i needed. also in defense of the developer, Apple doesnt make the data that im wanting (wifi connection strength) available so the dev did the best they could with whats available.

Not a good measure of wifi performance

This app does not present signal strength which is vital to locating optimal wifi quality and location.

Not very good

This app doesnt do half of what it claims

Why not measure Cellular?

I understand that the developers dont want you to chew up your cellular data allowance but let the user decide this. Some may have a lot of data allowance. Others may decide that they want to use some of their cellular data allowance. So please add the ability to measure cellular data speed.

not what I was looking for

It does not work properly even I put it next to the router I still get to 3% and the needle keeps bouncing around not accurate at all I need or looking for a Wi-Fi signal meter to test the strength of the signal not the speed ...worthless at least it was only $.99

Dont waste your money

This app doesnt do what it claims. It measures mb/s download speed. That has very little to do with the wifi signal strength. I expected a decibel reading. Very deceptive.

Sorry App!!

This is a pitiful app! Was looking for something similar to Wifi Analyzer. Need a signal strength indicator. Not this!

Works well!

This app works really well to determine proper placement of wifi access points within the home and office. It lets me know if our signal dips and where there are weak coverage areas.

What a POS

This app is not worth free. You can get all the features from free apps like speedtest. This does nothing more. I would not pay $0.01.

Excellent utility

Some have complained that this app utilizes network speed rather that Ed strength. However, Apple doesnt permit third party apps to directly contact hardware. Thus this method is the best we can get within that security policy. It is quite effective in showing the practical result of varying signal strength. Recommended for Antony who wants to economically map wifi strength.

Does not give signal strength

App only gives D/L speed & ping. Doesnt measure signal strength for wireless or cellular.
